Outstanding Achievements
This Department provides awareness on the personal issues, social and national issues, skills to increase employability of poor people, orientation & training to field functionaries of adult education.
Number of beneficiaries ranges from 2500 to 3000 every year.
- The Department has won the Jimmy Rosalyn Carter Partnership Foundation Award, for the year 2006, a prestigious recognition, for literacy, post-literacy and follow-up program undertaken in one of the biggest slum areas in Chandigarh, situated near the University Campus. This award carried a prize of US$ 3000 and a citation.
- The University Grants Commission has graded the Department in Phase II in 10th Plan period for providing financial assistance.
- It has been chosen as one of the Departments for imparting training in Computer Applications to the Panjab University employees and their wards.
- It has created a good infrastructure at the Department for practical training in Computer Education, Computer Hardware, Fashion & Textile Designing & Plumbing etc.
