Equal Opportunity Cell

 

Equal opportunity Cell was established in the Department of Life Long Learning & Extension, Panjab University, Chandigarh in the year 2011 and it is located in the Building of Emerging Area in Social Science, Near Student Centre, Panjab University, Chandigarh.

Till date the Department has attempt to co-create an Equal Opportunity Cell for SC/ST /OBC (Non-creamy layer ) and Minorities Students to break free from vicious trap of poverty and generating awareness among them and providing equal opportunity to the youth through different Vocational Courses.

The courses run by the Dept. were UGC Net Coaching / Remedial Coaching in English and awareness programs for SC/STs in the adopted villages of University especially Khuda lahora, Dhanas , Dadu Majra and Sarangpur, U.T. Chandigarh. Objectives:

• To create a self learning society and creating a frame work, which would prove as an enabler to unlock their potential.
• To provide a life long learning opportunity to SC/ST /OBC (Non-creamy layer ) and Minorities community.

Features of the Department The programs in the equal opportunity cell are need based and recommendations of the stake holders are implemented accordingly in the next batch.

The Programs are inter-disciplinary in nature and the courses are part time and the duration is from three to six months.

Courses undertaken by the Department under the Equal Opportunity Cell since 2011.

1. Computer Literacy Course
2. UGC Net Coaching
3. Remedial Courses in English Speaking and Personality Development

Future plans

1. Two to three months Certificate Course on Retail Management for SC/ST /OBC (Non-creamy layer ) and Minorities community.
2. Two to three months Coaching for entrance in Banking Sector SC/ST /OBC (Non-creamy layer ) and Minorities community.
